Lion King Play

We have had a super busy year.  Lola really wanted to participate in the play.  I didn't think we would have time for her to take on a full role, so the compromise was to work on production.  This required just as much attendance.   But somehow we managed to make it all work.  She's been a real trooper with all the activities this year.

The kids put on a great show.  Very hard to believe they are in elementary school!

4th Grade Awards

Lola knows in our house, school and education come first!  So despite all the activities, she managed to get awarded for her grades. She earned all A's and B's so she got a Silver Award. Lola was also awarded a special award for her hard work in Social Studies.  Thanks to Hamilton, Lola really took an interest in all things Revolutionary War, Hamilton and Angelica Schulyer.   In total Lola received 4 awards.  She had an incredible 4th Grade year!!

Swim Party

Torren Scott was a classmate of Lola's.  She moved not long ago and invited Lola and Brea to her swim party.  They had a blast and Lola was able to work on her dive skills!

Girl Scouts to Savannah

Lola's Girl Scout troop sold a lot of cookies and Lola was the top seller!  We took the girls to Savannah for their year end trip so thy tour The Juliette Low House.  The girls were all pinned, its quite an experience and not one that every Scout gets to enjoy.   We also went on a dolphin tour on Tybee Island  and the girls got to watch the dolphins play in the water and enjoy a beautiful sunset .  We had a good trip!!

Last Tennis Match of the Season

Lola had a decent tennis season, she won a few matches, she lost a few too.  She also started learning doubles, which she learned quickly is quite a different game.  Her last singles match Lola breezed through fairly easily and quickly.  Good Job Lola!

Girl Scouts Bronze Silver Gold Awards

The  Bronze Silver Gold Awards are the highest honors for Girl Scouts.  Its a community service project where the Scouts help contribute to solve a community problem.  Lola will earn her Bronze award next year as a 5th grader.  Her troop led the flag ceremony.  And Lola played "Lean on Me" on the piano while the awardees thanked the person/s who helped them achieve the award.

This has turned into an annual event of planting trees with Trees Atlanta at Southview Cemetary.  This historic cemetary was the original resting place for Martin Luther King Jr.  His parents are still buried there along with other prominent people.

Girls Scouts Rededication

Girl Scouts must re dedicate themselves every year.   They get a pin for every year they  have been a Scout. This year Mommy got a pin too!  And Lola was ther to pin me!

Hidden Figures

Black Girls Code hosted a screening of Hidden Figures. We arrived early and it's true the early bird
gets the worm.  Our troop scored a great backpack!  They were truly inspired by the movie and a great way to end the STEM program.
